Our research interests involve using UV laser spectroscopic techniques in experiments in gas-phase chemical physics. We are working on the study of chemical collisions at ultralow temperatures and the properties and applications of highly excited Rydberg states of atoms and molecules, the study of photodissociation dynamics, and the control of molecular motion using electromagnetic fields. The group is based in state-of-the-art facilities in the new £60m Oxford Chemistry Research Laboratory. Tim Softley is Professor of Chemical Physics at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of Merton College. |
